Ramu Ramanathan's areas of interest are applied econometrics, energy economics, economic growth, economic development, and international trade. His articles in these areas have appeared in leading journals in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and India. He is the co-author of the books San Diego: An economic analysis; Measuring external effects in solid waste management; and Regional load curve models. He is a professor emeritus at the University of California, San Diego, where he has been a faculty member since 1967. He has been an associate editor of ENERGY: The International Journal, a member of the University of California Energy Research Group Advisory Committee, and the President of Quantitative Economic Research (QUERI), a consulting firm; Dr. Ramanathan also served as a member of the Energy Finance Committee for the San Diego Association of Government, and played a leading role in its functions.
