Research Statement
My research is focused on empirical macroeconomics and empirical finance. I am currently interested in the unconventional monetary policies that the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan have been conducting for the past decade and how these policies influence the government bond and money market yield curves. Although the structure of the Japanese economy and its malaise are fundamentally different from that of the US, it nonetheless is the only country operating under zero interest rates for a considerable time. Thus, an understanding of the Japanese experience is useful in informing US monetary policy going forward.
